Today is United Nations Public Service Day.
UN Public Service Day celebrates people who are associated with public service all over the world. It acknowledges the achievements and contributions made by the public service institutions.
This year, UN Public Service Day is dedicated to all the women and men who have risked their lives and health amidst the Covid-19 pandemic to continue to deliver the essential public services that we rely on.
This includes people working in healthcare, delivery, sanitation, social welfare, education, transport, law enforcement, emergency services, and all the public servants. These people are the ones who have continued to go out to work during the pandemic.
The pandemic has highlighted the extent to which we rely on public service workers. It is vital that we work to ensure that public services are truly valued.
