The All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) for Radiotherapy has written to the Prime Minister, urging him to work with Ministers to ensure that the NHS reacts more quickly to restore cancer services that have been badly disrupted due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

A BBC Panorama programme, which aired on 6th July, illustrated the serious impact that the pandemic has had on cancer services. The CatchUpWithCancer campaign was subsequently launched by the parents of Kelly Smith, Craig and Mandy Russell, in conjunction with the campaigning group Radiotherapy4Life, following their daughter’s tragic death from bowel cancer in June aged just 31 years.

Their Change.Org/CatchUpWithCancer petition received 100,000 supporters within hours, and is now fast approaching 290,000 sign ups.

The letter has been signed by 107 cross-party MPs.
