Grahame Morris MP Working for Easington

It was a pleasure to attend the launch of Diabetes UK’s 10-Year Vision for Diabetes Prevention, Treatment and Care in Parliament, to discuss improving the lives of people with diabetes and those at high risk of type 2 diabetes over the next decade.
1 in 5 adults in the UK are now living with diabetes or pre-diabetes and people living with diabetes account for almost 30% of deaths from cardiovascular disease. It is a challenge that cannot be ignored. Diabetes UK vision sets out the straight-forward recommendations that can help to create a future where no life is cut short by diabetes. Where diabetes is diagnosed early, and where everyone receives the support they need to manage their condition and live well.
There are 8,560 people living with diabetes in Easington and only 38.7% of them met their three treatment targets and just over half got all either of their essential health checks. It is vital we all work to ensure the Government’s 10-Year Health Plan delivers improvements in diabetes care.
