Easington MP Grahame Morris spoke of his delight in advance of the opening of a new Morrisons Supermarket at Dalton Park.

The 30,000 sq ft site will employ over 300 full and part-time workers, is ready for Christmas and set to open on Thursday 26 November.

Grahame Morris MP for Easington spoke following the release of pictures from inside the new store, he said:

“The new Morrisons supermarket looks amazing. The transformation from a cold looking, empty retail unit to a bright and vibrant supermarket ready for Christmas is remarkable.

I have long believed that a Morrisons’ store at Dalton Park would be a great success. I am confident this will be borne out in the weeks and months ahead. In the current economic climate, the local jobs particularly for young people, generated by these new retail facilities located in East Durham are most welcome.

The opening of Morrisons is testament to the community campaign and continuous lobbying, which showed that a new supermarket would be viable and in high demand at Dalton Park.

I look forward to visiting and wish Morrisons, and all their new employees, all the best for Christmas, New Year and the future at Dalton Park.”
