Grahame Morris MP questioned Grant Shapps, Secretary of State for Transport, on a range of issues at this morning’s meeting of the Transport Select Committee.

The Transport Secretary appeared before the Committee alongside Gareth Davies, Director General, Aviation, Maritime, International and Security Group, at the Department for Transport.

Mr Morris began by asking the Secretary of State about congestion at ports and borders since the end of the transition period on 1st January 2021, statutory rest periods for heavy goods vehicle drivers, and flow of trade at the Irish Sea border:

Mr Morris also asked about the concerns around staff safety at the DVLA premises in Swansea, following an outbreak of Covid-19. DVLA bosses were called before the Committee to give evidence last week:
