Tax cuts will not help communities, under siege from crime and anti-social behaviour, after the Tories empowered criminals by cutting police officers.

Giving energy companies £150 billion to only double domestic electric and gas prices, will not help the millions of families dependent on foodbanks before the Conservative cost of living crisis.

The Conservative’s have broke Britain. Ambulance delays leave people to die, we live in a dentist desert where NHS appointments don’t exist and families battle to get a passport in time for travel. We cannot get a train due to overcrowding, and buses are delayed and cancelled without notice. The Government squander money on HS2 but don’t care people are unable to travel from South Hetton to the nearest town. Our seas are dumping grounds for water company’s raw sewage and people cannot afford heating or eating, due to stagnating wages and price rises.

Fairer Taxes that support the economy and levelling up. We need to abolish Council Tax in favour of a Proportional Property Tax, saving people in East Durham an average of £900 a year. Stop funding new runways in the South East and replace Air Passenger Duty with an Airport Congestion Charge, to utilise under-used capacity and stimulate economic activity in regional airports. Instead of creating a £150 billion national energy debt, windfall tax the energy generators pulling in excessive profits off the back of the current cost of living crisis.

Protect families from future energy prices through insulating homes, and rolling out domestic renewables, particularly solar.

Rebalance income tax, allowing those on lower incomes to pay less through asking those benefitting most from our economy to pay a little more.

Support our small businesses and high streets by closing tax avoidance loopholes that allow online companies to pay less and undercut the businesses that keep our towns alive and vibrant.

This is a budget designed by privately educated millionaires that enriches the rich and privileged.

Liz Truss is storing up a debt time bomb that we will be paying back long after she has gone. The Prime Minister is mortgaging the country’s future, but once we pay off the debt in 2050 and beyond, all there will be to show for it is bigger bank balances in off-shore tax havens for a rich privileged few.

We need change, and the public should be outraged today, as it will be our country and children that will suffer and pay for this incompetence and mismanagement
