Royal Mail

I am always delighted to visit the Royal Mail Delivery Offices in my constituency, but it is more important to stand in support and solidarity with the CWU and Royal Mail staff fighting to protect their pay, terms and conditions, as well as safeguarding our postal service and the Universal Service Obligation.

Royal Mail privatisation has been a success for shareholders, that have taken millions out of our postal service in dividends. It has been a disaster for consumers, with rising prices, as stamps costing nearly £1, and for our posties who are threatened with job cuts and worse terms and conditions during the height of a cost of living crisis.

The cost of privatisation is too high, and ‘dividends’ going to shareholders would have been better used giving our postal workers a cost of living pay rise.
