After five years, I have a constituent still waiting for justice and her day in court. The delays to investigating and reaching a charging decision has had a detrimental impact on my constituent’s health and wellbeing.

I welcome the Leader of the House’s promise to raise this matter with the Home Secretary, and have sent her more details of the case, which I cannot make public due to sub judice rules, as there is a ‘live’ investigation, despite the delays.

I hope 2024 will be the year my constituent finally receives a positive outcome, and we must continue to campaign to ensure no one else experiences the systemic failures which persist within policing and our criminal justice system.
