Grahame Morris MP Working for Easington
East Durham Veterans Trust (EDVT) will host the Royal Chelsea Pensioners at the Veterans Hub, Seaham on Wednesday 3rd April at 11am.
The visiting Chelsea Pensioners will be welcomed by a receiving line including Andrew Cammiss, EDVT CEO, Grahame Morris MP, and Cllr Jennifer Bell, Seaham Mayor. During lunch, guests will be entertained with a performance by the renowned Chelsea Pensioners Choir.
The Chelsea Pensioners known for their iconic scarlet coat and black shako cap will then visit Seaham Seafront, with stops at Tommy, the Ray Lonsdale statue of a World War One soldier, and the newly installed Artillery Field Gun. Local Veteran David McKenna will provide a history of our military links, through the 2nd Seaham Artillery Volunteer Corp, HMS Seaham, and our newest association with the 4th Regiment Royal Artillery who were granted freedom of the town in 2022.
The day will conclude with the Chelsea Pensioners visiting local nursing homes.
